When I don’t teach, study or am otherwise very seriously engaged, I enjoy volleyball of all shapes and types, (marathon) running, skiing, and hiking across national and state parks, especially my own backyard in the rainforests, mountains and wild coasts of Olympic National Park in Washington and the enchanting landscape of the Taos Mesa in New Mexico.

I also cannot go to sleep without reading my beloved books in a variety of genres from George R.R. Martin and J. K. Rowling all the way to Heinrich Heine and Haruki Murakami.

Check out my Blog Running from Buffalo where I publish on current events, lifestyle change, marathon training and healthy eating as well as linguistics and fieldwork topics!

Additionally, with my partner I have been working on a venture called 180forward – an eco-tourism and education business based in New Mexico and the Pacific Northwest.
